It will be 'almost impossible to see someone without a friend,
99% of us have friends (1% is just for the benefit of doubt).
Every one of us have at least two or more close friends and therefore important we truly know what friendship should be about and understand its importance/impact on you.
To have a friend, you must first be one yourself
To choose a friend, you should know what you want
To keep a friend, you must be dedicated, loving + forgiving
Before you can tell if something is good, you must first be able to differentiate good from bad.
So also should you be able to differentiate what you want from the ones you don’t.
Let’s Go On…
Outline those desired characteristics you wish to see in a friend and the things you expect in a person, this will guide and help you streamline friends or intended friends. Everyone have the right person for them (those they easily connect with) but most importantly, you can also make yourself right.
'I will say; ‘be the right person’.
You can be the right person in the following ways
· Know and identify your interest, like and dislike
· Identify your weaknesses and strength, don’t just end there - work on them
· Develop a better attitude
· Evaluate yourself
· Be real
· Be true
· Be available and willing to give; your time, resources, knowledge, advice & others
In making friends, one mistake most people make is to think-first of what the other person(s) have to offer. Which is okay but NOT the best.
What then is the best? You might want to ask; here is an advice –
Don’t think alone of what the other person can do for you or vice-a-vice but what both of you can do for each other.
IMPORTANTLY
· You can build yourselves to become better people.
· Another important thing to look out for is similarities; of course, you can’t behave exactly the same way but there should be a point of agreement.
‘IF’ you both do things exactly the same way, reason exactly the same, then you should know that you will have nothing to offer each other… yea! ‘Two same people are useless to each other
(No two people can be exactly the same though).
· You must both have the capacity to influence each other positively, something must be exchanged as you journey together toward growth and improvement & it should be something good. At that moment when you realize it’s nothing good, take a walk, after-all friendship is not by force.
· Since friendship is all about give and take; an exchange of values, ideas, character, etc., you should ensure you are getting the right things. As we ‘wine & dine’ with those we surround ourselves with, they leave one or two traits with us even after they are long gone.
· One can forecast your nearest future just by measuring and weighing your relationships with the constant people in your life.
· Friendship can leave you better or worse; make sure yours is not making you worse.
And so choose those people wisely.
Note:
+ Never let little things make you lose a good friend no matter what
Two people cannot walk together except they have similar goals.
Your friends reflects the king of person you are or will eventually become ... & yea, friendship is this important.
– ponder!
